Bhaltos Community Trust is thrilled to have been successful in securing funding from Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust to purchase a range of tents together with camping and walking equipment to enable Uig Primary school pupils and the wider community to engage with the precious local environment. The kit will form the core of an outdoor lending library which, as the first of its kind, will facilitate a new route to engagement with the outdoors. Jeff Sissons, trustee of Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust commented, “Our charity is focused on helping a wide range of people enjoy the many benefits the outdoors can bring. It is often the case that people living in the most beautiful parts of the country with the richest natural history cannot afford the kit to properly enjoy what is on their doorstep. We are proud to be able to offer a helping hand to this local community. “ Bhaltos Community Trust feels that the biggest barrier to hillwalking and outdoor activities is the island weather, with low temperatures and high winds requiring the best kit to enable enjoyment. Access to quality kit will encourage wider exploration of the Outer Hebrides. The contribution from Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust will really make a difference to the community.
